Layers of time: A tribute to Historic Muharraq
Layers of Time is a series of handcrafted stoneware tiles inspired by the historic alleyways of Muharraq, Bahrain. Each piece carries impressions taken directly from weathered surfaces such as peeling walls, aged stone, and architectural textures found throughout the city, preserving traces of place, memory, and time within clay.
Through layered clays, glazes, glass, and brass elements, the works explore the relationship between erosion and preservation, reflecting the way history accumulates across surfaces and generations. The textures become quiet records of movement, aging, and human presence, transforming fragments of the city into tactile contemporary compositions.
